An Archaeology of Girlhood
This archaeology strives to document and analyze the artifacts of girlhood that are discounted and/or hidden after being deemed trivial. This includes the documentation of the “chick flick” film, the form of the Diary as means of expressing oneself, as well as the aesthetic of being “girly.” The formal documentation of these cultural artifacts is positioned as being radical in and of itself because the recording and analyzing of elements of girlhood presupposes their significance and suggest potential relevance to the canon of American culture, film, etc.
